StreamStar is a streaming music app I wrote for devices running the Android OS. Set up a simple web server on your home network and you'll be able to stream your entire music collection over the Internet to your mobile device. No need to install proprietary software or upload all your music files to "the cloud". You can even command your device to play what you want using voice recognition.
